since things have been feeling less chaotic at the cafe, i've come to (falsely) fancy myself the Queen of Leisure Time. this leads me to scoop up used books in numbers only a hoarder could justify.
because it will probably be months until i get around to reading these things, i'd like to share my excitement with y'all. if you want to borrow any/all of these, let me know. i'm happy to drop them in a mailbox if you are a faraway friend.
today i had a 10-minute shopping spree at my favorite neighborhood used book store, resulting in these babies:
my first wonder woman comic (circa 1976)!!! i know nothing about her! totally pumped!
kinda wishing i had exercised self-restraint on this one: the complete A-Z handbook on the marvel universe (from 1983 ...). brother paul, let me know if you want this!
not sure what to expect. put out by renegade press in '83. i was hoping, at time of purchase, that it was an ironic cover. upon thumbing through pages, i'm not so sure ...
no clue, but it is always hard for me to resist dropping a dollar on the first issue of any series.
FAUST!
on a more serious note, with great thanks to a buddy who has shone light on many things for my cloudy little brain, a book about moral relativism. i expect sleepless, contemplative nights whilst reading this bad boy:
buying old comics is not a new habit for me. if you want to share in my impulsivity, please tell me! i'm glad to share/trade/let you read in my room while i look over your shoulder and tell you what my favorite part is.
also, i can't and don't want to stop listening to The Amps. why couldn't i have been born between five and ten years earlier?
oh! and while we're on the comic book/being born in the wrong year topic, my professor (yeah, i'm in school. i don't have time to read any of this stuff and get drunk) told me he has been kicking around the idea of writing a paper about The Sandman and invited me to co-author it. so i'm re-reading that too. nerdapalooza 2010.
